By isolating the unusual beaks of different birds from the image of the bird as a whole, they are transformed into a collection of strange and curious objects.

They become something else, something touchable, tactile, and grounded in material, evolving through interaction.

'Taxonomy' was modelled by hand in black clay, and fired in a reduction  firing, bringing oxides to the surface of the clay, giving it an almost metallic appearance.
