Gyre, 2021

With Gyre, I wanted to take this image I have created of oversized bird claws and manipulate it, changing it into something new. Playing with the natural symmetry, I’ve designed an emblem-like wall piece. Transforming a menacing hybrid into something beautiful and macabre. It’s a piece of three-dimensional wallpaper or a heraldic Rorschach test.

Created with Form Capture and London Bronze Casting, I used the opportunity to utilise 3D scanning and printing technology, which I'd never used in my practice before, to cast this more complex, intricate piece.

By looking at birds with an irreverent slant, isolating single elements, I aim to create something that is at once alluring and uncanny.

'Gyre' is available to purchase through London Bronze Casting
